The Mouse and the Fox Empty The Mouse and the Fox

Post by Rahxephon Wed Dec 10, 2014 3:02 pm

It was a beautiful on the North Blue as the salty air blew across a remote island, though it's location is very lonesome what with little in the line of neighbours. It is still on at least two trade routes granting it a descent amount of people passing through, walking the semi crowded streets of a port side town resting on the island. Is a young boy by the name of Taiki Fukui, he was walking below the general line of sight of most people. He was no pickpocket but did what he could to get some money or food, since his crew was taken by the seas Taiki has had very little sustenance. Walking past a fruit store Taiki used his Kakute rto pick up an apple for himself, and then disappeared into the crowd. Coming to a water feature that was centre in a locale square Taiki sat on the rim of the feature, and ate his apple while he watched the people go past.

He wasn't even certain where he was and had little idea where his next destination, he was wondering if he should find another crew or just wonder around for a while. He little in the line of plans for the moment outside of his dreams, one was of a good and fun life while the other was about justified revenge. Neither of these dreams were even close to fruition as such he just laid back on his hand and sighed, taking another bite of his apple Taiki wondered if he should just settle down. But that would go against some many things about him and would be utterly boring, anyway what was he supposed to do. Because being on a ship, fighting and surviving were the only things he was really good at and he was too young to be a politician. So laying on his back and looking at the vast sky, Taiki put his half eaten apple up and wondered what would happen next.

The Mouse and the Fox Empty Re: The Mouse and the Fox

Post by Sweet Dreams Wed Dec 10, 2014 5:49 pm

The town square seemed alive today buzzing wit talk even more then normal one such group stood nearby about something. "I saw it I tell you at the forest edge!"

A man said pointing towards a path the tops of trees could be seen in the distance.

"T-Thats Impossible it's never seen so close to town before" said another "Do you think its getting braver...what if-" The third was cut off by a woman this time "Hush now do you want to scare the children?"

She whispers looking over at a few children playing nearby.

This seemed to be the talks of a creature of some sort that seemed to involve the children. As many were so wrapped up in their gossip none noticed a large fox jumping from roof to roof with what looked to be a large black kettle in its jaws the handle locked in its sharp teeth making its way towards the forest.

The Mouse and the Fox Empty Re: The Mouse and the Fox

Post by Rahxephon Thu Dec 11, 2014 1:43 pm

As Tai laid there looking up at the sky, he noticed something moving across the roofs of buildings. It was headed in the direction of the towns outskirts, where he was told a forest existed and that would account for something resembling a fox heading in that direction. He was sure Foxes knew better then to head into town but things could be tough, and he understand the need for desperation and survival. So he got up and jumped to the ground while tossing his apple into the water, once he was ready he kept an eye on the fox and started running in that direction.

Most people didn't care that a boy was running through the streets, it was fairly common place and nothing abnormal about it. Though he was looking up and most didn't care to check what he was watching, probably thinking he's merely using his imagination to chase some fantasy creature. Coming to a dead end as he followed the fox, Tai jumped on to a bunch of crates and then a shop sign before getting onto the roof. Once on the roof Tai attempted to catch pace with the fox "Hello there Fox, anything interesting" commented Tai to the Fox as he came closer to it.

The Mouse and the Fox Empty Re: The Mouse and the Fox

Post by Sweet Dreams Thu Dec 11, 2014 2:20 pm

At the sound of a voice the fox turned looking back before a growl escapes it throat as its deep blue eyes narrow before it turns and starts to run faster in attempt to lose its human pursuer.

It seemed it wasn't going to be easy but then it saw its chance a large gap between the roofs below the busy main street. The was only one problem with the extra weight of the kettle it would make it harder to make the normally easy jump...but she had to try she had to get this back to her child..

With that as she neared the edge she leaped in the air and for what seemed to be the longest seconds of her life she felt like she was floating in the air and for one second her heart skipped a beat at the fear of falling but as her paws hit the roof on the other side that fear vanished.

As she breathed a sigh of relief she turned back to look at the human boy her eyes narrowed and her lips curled up into what could of been seen as a smirk. It was almost like she was saying "Just try and make the jump Human"

The Mouse and the Fox Empty Re: The Mouse and the Fox

Post by Rahxephon Thu Dec 11, 2014 3:35 pm

It seemed the fox wasn't happy about being noticed, as a growl escaped it's lips as it sped up. Trying to escape it's human companion though it didn't realize that Tai wasn't slow, and was very used to moving fast over obscure things and items. But then it came to a large gap and despite it's package, the fox made it across the gap and looked back daring him to follow. A sly smile escaped Tai's lips as he pulled out his Manriki Gusari, which was a nearly 40 inch long chain weapon with a weight on each end. Keeping it in hand Tai took a running jump while in the air Tai spun his Manriki Gusari, letting one side of it go and wrap around a small smoke stack on the roof.

Though Tai's jump just fell short of the mark, his Manriki Gusari allowed him to reel himself in mid flight and land at least one foot on the roof. He smiled and righted himself then proceeded to reel his Manriki Gusari back in and off the smoke stack, looking at the fox he let of a smirk "Thought that was going to stop me, I'm not here to hurt you. Just wondering what you're doing" commented Tai with a boyish smile.

Post by Sweet Dreams Thu Dec 11, 2014 4:16 pm

The fox was sure the boy would fall as he jumped but that strange tool of his helped him clear the last bit and this made a soft growl escape her lips. Now that he was closer she saw he looked young just a cub it seemed..at this she wondered why his parents let him wander so far it was dangerous to be away from once pack at such an age.

Then he spoke to her could he not tell it was just a pot something humans made food come out of? Or maybe he thought something was inside that perhaps she stole something..?

With a sigh of frustration she sat the kettle down and tipped it over one one side placing a paw on top to stop it from rolling away to show the empty insides and giving a look that said

"I am no thief now stop following me pup"

Before her eyes turned and looked towards the forest a whine of worry slipped out at the thought of her child allow and unprotected every moment she was away.

Tai put his chain weapon away as he stabilized himself on the rooftop, stretching a little as he did the fox let off another light growl. He could tell it was mostly a warning that it didn't want to be followed, as foxes weren't know to be highly vicious unless totally provoked. Once he was sure he wasn't going to fall off the roof he looked at the fox, whose grasp of English was limited. Because it had put the kettle down and tipped it over, the fox must of thought he was chasing her because she may have stolen something.

Frankly he didn't actually care weather the fox had or not stolen anything, the kettle was empty and Tai figured she needed the implement for some other purpose. He was fairly certain foxes didn't drink tea and if they did, then how'd they make it with paws and such forth. After the fox had shown the kettle, Tai shock his head and shrugged hoping the fox would understand that's not the reason it was being followed. "Do you need help" asked Tai wondering if the fox needed some help with something it was ill equipped to do.

The fox's ears perked up at his words. Help she knew that word, he was asking if she needed help? Thinking it over her instincts told her no that he was human he couldn't be trusted but the other side of her says to accept the help.

After what seems an eternity she sighs and picking up the kettle started walking once again to the forest before turning back expecting him to follow. She will trust him for now..

The Mouse and the Fox Empty Re: The Mouse and the Fox

Post by Rahxephon Fri Dec 12, 2014 12:45 pm

Tai knew that certain words were fairly universal, help was one of these words and frankly he had nothing better to do today. Let alone for the rest of the week until he found a crew or something to hire him, so hanging out and helping this fox should at least be interesting or at least different.

So once the fox accepted his presence and wondered off, but turning back expecting Tai to follow her. So with a smile Tai started slowly following the fox, he didn't know what was going to happen but it beats laying in the city square staring at the sky.

Once the fox saw the boy was following her she quickened her pace and soon she reached the forests edge. Once there she placed the kettle down she looked around seeing noone but the boy. Once sure there was noone around she picked the kettle back up and ran into the bushes. Hidden in the over grown weeds and other plant life was a old dirt path that looked like it hadn't been used much if at all in years.

Now and then she looked back making sure the boy kept up. Then suddenly they hit a fork in the path the path to the left seemed completely over grown while the right seemed to of been cleared recently. What looked to be a sign post stood vine covered, the letters completely faded from being left unattended over the years.

Instead of taking the tended path she rushed into the overgrown one having to stand up on her hind legs to look back at the boy.

The Mouse and the Fox Empty Re: The Mouse and the Fox

Tai had no problem keeping pace with the fox, though when it came to over grown areas he had to use his Kakute in their duster fashion. To bat away any foliage that wanted to get in his way, dodging some low branches and high bushes Tai kept a lookout ahead for his furry friend. As they got to a forked path, the fox stopped to pick which side it was going to pick.

Tai sighed when the creature picked the overgrown side, getting his dusters ready to make a makeshift path through the bushes. He hoped none of them were poisonous or ivy or anything, though since that affected more then just humans he figured he should be okay as he kept pace with the Fox. Whenever he got the chance Tai would pull the plants. leaves and twigs from his hair, as he ran with the fox.

Suddenly the overgrown path vanished as they entered a large clearing hidden behind a wall of thick towering trees.

The spaces between the trees small enough to stop most larger animals from getting to the other side. One the inside of the clearing stood an even taller tree thick branches held dark green leaves and large fruit. Nearby a small waterfall that fell into a small lake fish could be seen jumping from the clear water at the insects above.

A log acting as a seat of sorts by a fire pit where the fox placed the kettle. Then she looked from the log to the boy as if to tell him to sit before she quickly scurried up the tree vanishing into the leaves.

After a moment of silence the same leaves rustled once again before a figure drops from the tree but it wasn't the fox. From the clothes they wore,a kimono style dress it looked to be a girl around Taiki's age but due to the Kitsune mask they wore it would be hard it tell.

The Mouse and the Fox Empty Re: The Mouse and the Fox

Tai despite appearances wasn't really one for child like moments, but seeing this wonderful seen did bring a sense of awe to the boy. He'd never seen any place so beautiful outside of picture books, looking around at the lovely scenary Tai didn't notice the fox jolt off. But noticed it put the kettle down before looking back at the scene, he sat down and waited for the fox to return. He was almost worried that he'd been brought here as a snack for the foxes young, or maybe some pack they may have had living here.

Although he was in amazement of the beauty around him, he was not averse to keeping himself alive and had a hand on his dagger. As the fox had disappeared and was doing who knows what up in the tree, but when the leaves rustled again with activity. Tai wasn't greeting with the fox it'd met early but a kimono wearing girl with a Kitsune mask, he'd instinctively taken his hand off the dagger since the girl seemed so young. Though he wasn't sure and could easily be some kitsune demon, that the fox had lured him into the clutches of for dinner or something.

But he was nothing if not a gentlemen and stood up and bowed to the girl with a charming smile on his lips "Greetings miss, I am Taiki Fukui. The fox brought me here, I offer my services and friendship if you like" expressed Tai keeping his lovely and charming smile up.

Upon seeing a stranger in her clearing the girl quickly hid behind the tree Peeking out at him her golden eyes wide behind the mask. Why was he here?

No one came this deep into the forest out of fear the people of the village thought she was a kitsune demon that ate the souls of children as such when she normally encountered another person they often ran away or got violent but this boy was neither his words filled with kindness a smile on his face.

She wasn't sure what to make of it it could be a trick to get her to lower her guard.

Looking near him she saw the kettle but to get it she would have to go closer to the stranger and that was something she did not want to do.

Tai could tell the girl was frightened so that crossed off being a demon, though it could be an act but it wasn't likely. Since Tai had seen and felt real fear before and could tell it on another person, so in a way to alleviate her fears Tai stepped back out of the fire place allowing room for her to move towards the kettle. He then leaned down on one knee with his head down "I mean you now harm, miss" expressed Tai in his most charming tone of voice.

"As proof" added Tai as he crossed his hands over one another which allowed him to pull off his Kakute rings, next he pulled off his dagger slow and low then dropped it on the ground where his rings were. After this he pulled out his Manriki Gusari and then dropped it near the others, he then stood and bowed again before placing his Atlanti lightly down with the rest of them. "You have nothing to fear, I am now unarmed" informed Tai.

Seeing him pile up his weapons she let her guard down moving out from behind the tree but never taking her eyes off him. She then slowly makes her way towards the kettle studying the boy she liked his eyes a strange color she had never seen in another persons eyes before something she shared with her golden eyes. Once close enough she grabs the kettle and backs up a few steps but not yet running away.

She is not sure what to do trying to recall what people normally do when they have guests in therir homes. Looking down she realized she held the answer in her hands. She quickly takes it over to the waterfall she fills it with water  before setting it it on a pole over hanging the fire pit. She kept her guard up as she lit the fire glancing at boy now and then watching his movements till the fire was lit.

Realizing they needed cups to drink from so she quickly rushed back to the tree and with a grunt she pulls hidden in between the roots of the tree,a chest. Opening it she pulls out a small bag of tea leaves a jar full of honey and three cups. After putting back the chest she rushes back to the fire placing the items on the ground as she waits for the water to finish boiling.

Tai could see the girl had become less worried about him, but still seemed wary about his presence either way. She seemed to be sizing him up for a while and then started into hit eyes, this gave him a slight chance to see her eyes through the holes in the mask. They were strangely coloured like his own, where his was orange hers were more of a gold colour. This made him smirk a little because he hadn't met anyone with something close to his eye colour, oh he'd heard some people had strange eye and hair colour. But even on his travels none matched up to his, it used to give him trouble on the streets as some saw it as some sign of him being evil or some blasphemous creature.

It seemed the girl was thinking about what to do as she stood there with the kettle in her hand for a time before looking down then racing back to the tree. She came back with what looked like the necessary stuff for a tea party, by this time Tai was getting a little stiff because of all the running he did to get here. "Mind if I sit down" asked Tai, he would only move when the girl replied or nodded and if so he'd sit opposite her when allowed.

Miu nods "Please sit" She said her voice sounding soft and sweet if not a bit muffled by her mask as she struggled to form the words slightly, it had been quite a while since she had talked to a person so her speech wasn't as good as it used to be.

As she removed the kettle from the fire and added the tea leaves, the fox from earlier jumped down from the tree. Seeing Miu so close to the human boy she rushes forward climbing up the girls arm before warping its body around her neck as it stared at the boy. It almost looked like the girl was wearing a fluffy black and white scarf.

"Momo nee-san no stare, not nice" She says putting a hand on its head causes it to look away from him. As she starts to pour the tea slowly into cups

The Mouse and the Fox Empty Re: The Mouse and the Fox

The girl offered for him to sit and he took his log as it was, opposite the girl and her now new companion scarf. The fox from earlier he guessed though being they all looked the same, it was hard to be certain but judging from the looks it must of been the same one. It had become a scarf of sorts on the girl, seemingly trying to protect and or guard her though Tai thought it odd since the fox brought him here. He smiled a warm smile "You live in a beautiful place, I'm glad your friend brought me here" expressed Tai hinting at the fox that it was the reason he was here, so staring and glaring at him was pointless.

Tai hadn't had a cup of tea in sometime, the last time was probably with his last crew. The ones that were sunk and subsequently killed as he watched, they'd always treated him well and as a member of the crew rather then a slave. As such he'd drunk tea with them and the captain on many occasions, the girl had started pouring the tea into the cups. Tai wouldn't make any movements until the cup was offered to him, if only for the wild fox hanging around the girls neck and not wanting his throat ripped out. And with his weapons a distance away, he had no way to defend himself it something like that happened. He figured street fighting would be useless against a fox, though he did worry about two of his weapons.

His Atlanti was more then just a simple blow dart, as the sculpture on the end represented his fallen family. While the dagger was the last thing he had from his last crew, and was to be used in their retribution. Thus he would not be fond of loosing either of them to wild animals that may live in the area, he shook those thoughts from his head and looked back at the girl. "Mind if I ask your name" added Tai because he'd not gotten a response from his own introduction and he wanted to at least know the name of the person he was having a tea party with.

Miu had been offering the tea cup when he asked her name.  Miu sat on the near the boy with her own tea cup "Miu...Miu Chiharu"  She said softly  before sitting on the log near the boy "You aren't from the Village are you? Taiki Nii san?" She asks as she pours some honey into her tea. No one would come this deep into the woods for fear of the "Fox  spirit" that lived in the center.

"Momo Nee san thinks Miu needs friends" She says explaining why he was most likely brought here. She sips the tea through a hole in the mouth of her mask. "Not many like Miu...they think Miu is scary" She says looking into her tea. "No one likes Miu, Everyone goes away, everyone but Momo Nee san and..." She pauses before looking up at Taiki "You.."

Tai took the offered tea and smiled as he did so, the girl then introduced herself slightly meekly that he almost missed it. "Nice to meet you Miu" expressed Tai with a nod, then she asked if he was from the village that he imgained was the place he was in earlier. He shook his head "No, I'm from another island" replied Tai, and then took a sip of the tea. It was good and warming to the heart, if just because it reminded him of lost friends and family.

"Everyone needs friends, sadly mine have been lost to the world" informed Tai with a slight sadness in his voice that brought memories of the time he lost his crew and their sacrifice to keep him alive. A slight tear escaped his eyes and dropped onto his boy sized hand, he tried to shake off the sadness so as not to make the girl feel bad "Well the mask is a little off putting at first, but you act more like a girl then a demon so I don't see the problem with being friends. Forget what the villagers think, live your life how you want too. That's what I do" commented Tai feeling a little bit better about making a new friend.

Miu thought about what he said, live how she wanted..? For years she just stayed in the forest only daring to go out once before.

She wanted to go on adventures, she had her own dreams, dreams she had almost forgotten lost in all the years of hatred, anger and sadness.

She had almost been swallowed up into that darkness but the small kindness of friendship Taiki offered brought back that spark.

She turned to him the newly lit fire burning in her eyes. "Taiki nii san is right! Miu shouldn't worry about what others think! She should go after her own dreams!" She says before the light in her eyes dies slightly.

"...But...Miu will never reach them by staying on the Island forever..Fire dancing isn't really easy to do in a forest after all" She mutters the last part Momo nodding in agreement.

She then snaps her head up as an Idea pops into her brain "Taiki nii san...Friends help friends right?....Maybe Miu can help Taiki nii san with his dreams and then he can help her with some of her dreams!"

She said hope ringing in her voice, to be useful to someone, That was one of her dreams and if she could help Taiki with one of his maybe, just maybe she could be seen as a tiny bit useful.

The Mouse and the Fox Empty Re: The Mouse and the Fox

Post by Rahxephon Wed Dec 17, 2014 12:19 pm

The girls perky idealism reminded him of his younger brother, before the street and desperation corrupted him to the point of his death. Miu seemed more strongly willed then she first appeared but from what she had told him, she had to be weary of the people from the village because they felt she was some kind of demon. But now she was bright and ready to go on an adventure, he was actually going to ask if she wanted to go with him when he left the island for other places. If only to keep her safe from the superstitious villagers, and he even figured the fox into the equation if it wanted to tag along.

Taiki couldn't help but smile, this was a true smile and not the one he put on to play nice and manipulative. "Sounds like a plan, we'll make our own way. And we'll have adventures all over the Blues, seeing things neither of us have ever dreamed existed. You can Fire Dance to your hearts content, and even bring your fox friend with you" expressed Tai wondering first how they'd get off the island without going through the village. Since the fox liked resting on the girl like a scarf that should be simply but Miu would have to walk through the village without here mask, just so problems didn't arise and then they'd have to find a ship they could get on that would take them elsewhere.

Possible adventures bounced around in Miu's head. Discovering a forgotten Island, look over the edge of the world, gain riches beyond ones wildest dreams. The thoughts of having such adventures made her eyes sparkle with wonder.

"This calls for Miu's monster feast!" She declares proudly before both her and Momo rush around collecting a large pot four bowls and various vegetables. "Miu likes cooking!" She says as she starts to make a stew of some sort as Momo seemed to be catching fish to be the meat of the stew.

Tai could see the girls eyes sparkle, when he mentioned the word adventures which wasn't surprising. Since most children himself included wanted to go on adventures, he wanted to do more in life then get revenge for his family and friends. But with his new friend Mui and her fox pal they had the begins of so wing new, he now had less reason to be selfish and could be a big brother or something similar again.

"A monster feast sounds fun" replied Tai as he drunk his tea, and the two of them raced about getting the necessary items for their dish. Mui stated she liked cooking which made Tai feel better since he couldn't cook anything that wasn't basic, otherwise he just ate what he could when he could. "Glad to hear it, cause I'm not much of a cook" added Tai as he rubbed the back of his head slightly before returning to his tea.
