Lightning Guard: Hunter becomes the Hunted

The air was cool upon the island of Solohamna, the first HQ of the second fleet. It wasn't particularly large by itself, but did have a multitude of surrounding islands. They were close enough to have the resources to build a bridge between them, but it was great for rowing practice so they didn't bother. All of the islands together were in the shape of a pentagon, with one in the middle. They were each three or four kilometres around, and the centre island had a large marine building elevated by a large hill in the middle, the rest of it being flat ground, either tiled or simple green grassland. There were towns all around it, though generally close to the HQ. There were also a large amount of ports on the island as well, each in the direction of the other ones.

Commodore Brusling took a large gulp of his coffee. He was a tall man with a large, twirly moustache and was somewhere in his sixties, sporting at around eight feet tall. He remembered something, new recruits and transfer should becoming today, if his calendar was correct. What time was it? Ten o'clock? Yes, he took another large gulp of the scalding coffee. That gave him enough time to relax and take his time to get to the greeting place. Someone opened the door, "Sir? it's one o'clock, the recruits are here." Ah! Yes, one o'clock, the meeting place. He blinked for a moment, before sighing and getting up, he really needed some method of telling the time.

The ships that were carrying the recruits and transfers were making it into port, and the wide open stretch of land laid out before all. The occasional water pocket for animals could be seen, mostly buffalo were around, though it was more of a small village than anything else. In the middle of the square was a long table. "Get into line, aldies and gentlemen! You'll be sorted into groups soon enough!" One of the lieutenants announced.

There was a large table with nine chairs, all but the middle were taken, from left to right:

First seat: A sour looking woman in her thirties, she had her hair in a black bun.
Second: A fat, jolly man in his mid-twenties with a pencil moustache and bald head.
Third: A generic handsome man with a double-clef chin looking a bit like a human squidward after being hit by a door.
Fourth: He just... Looks like a zombie, stitches everywhere with a brush moustache and a cap, around in his fifties.
It's a chair, quite ordinary looking if you ask anyone the standard four legs with a cushion.
Sixth: taken by some girl in her twenties, blond hair smooth skin and talking to the seventh one.
Seventh: Everything but his face is bandaged, and also seems to be in his twenties, with an elvis haircut and brown hair.
Eighth: Another female, in his forties and keeping one leg on the table, she has a few wrinkles on her face with an eye patch. She has short hair that is covered with a cap.
Ninth: A man with a mask, he has the words "MARINE" on his forehead, that's about as much as you can get from him.

There would be over a hundred marine recruits lined up, in columns.

Claudio stood in his line, his pole strapped to his back, his sunglasses covering his eyes and his hands in his pocket. He looked around, there sure were a lot of other recruits... good thing most of them were men. Claudio decided to go and have a tiny amount of fun, just a tiny bit. Leaning over towards the man in front him so that his head was beside the recruit's he whispered the following words:

"Heeeeeey there, sweeeetheart."

The recruit wouldn't have a single problem if the person was a female but he was a male! This made him feel a little uncomfortable. Claudio smirked as he stood straightly once more.

It was judgement day, or more like be placed into a new crew, or for Celes her first crew day. It was busy as tons of recruits walked around the moment they had hit the island, she had prefered flying there but was adviced to travel with her former headqaurters associates who were applying to crews here aswell, even though it was hard to not be free, and fly in her own happy way she decided to listen, most people looked strange up on her, who would volunteer for crownest duty, she would and she spend all trip there, being alone and having a good time in the sky.

Up on arival. the young girl dashed around to where she had to go, wondering what kind of crew she would be put in and who were here crew mates, she hoped that it wouldn't be a big crew and that either she had the task of doctor, or something making her be outside a lot, she hated office dutys, cleaning dutys and for no gold would cook meat.

Once she entered the building, filled with stenches of man sweat she saw marines lining up infront of a table full of kind of strange looking people. some man some woman, some masked, some bandaged, were they the captains? they didn't look all to special. sadly enough. oh well, she was here to learn right. patiently waiting she stared forward for something to happen.

Commodore Brusling was running across the island, he was a bit slow in his age, or maybe it was because of the practical retirement of his job. In a few minutes however he managed to cover the distance, bit sloppy of him but hey-ho. It was inefficient to go through the doors, so he might as well just go through the wall instead. He slowed to a walk and made an entrance that was probably going to seem a little flashy but he was running a little late.

Meanwhile in the building, people  began to get a bit impatient. Some muttered to others, some idled by, the people in the tables continued to talk amongst themselves and look at their watches. Son the wall practically exploded outwards, an extremely tall man walked out of it, he was around eight or so feet tall, had a wrinkly face and looked pretty lean. He sported the usual marine officer outfit, a cloak with the words “MARINE” emblazoned on the back and a cool looking hat, much like the commissars from Warhammer 40k except blue.
 
He walked over to his chair and took a seat. “Welcome! Welcome to the island Solohamna! You have chosen, or been chosen to be in or relocate to one of the navy’s finest fleets. The founding admiral had thought so much of Solohamna that they made it our capital in the blues, provided by our funders. I am proud to call Solohamna my.. And our.. home. And so, whether you hope to stay with us, or to move on to your dreams of a higher rank, welcome to the second fleet.” He said, before sitting down. “Now, you will be placed under your captains’ crews out of the hat. Bring the hat!” he announced, and a few marines with a… Rather large hat, came forth. In fact, it was sort of like a water barrel except with folded pieces of paper in them. “When you get your paper, return to your line and open them when I say so, before that I will introduce you to each of these fine officers of justice!” he said. “First from your left, go and take one!” he ordered.
 
Soon people began to take the papers from the hat, returning to their place in line, one at a time until all of them got their papers.

This was taking a little too long. Claudio crossed his arms and continued to wait. After a few moments of standing still and thinking to himself, a tall man made his appearance. The first thing Claudio noticed was the hat sitting on the man's head, he had to admit, it looked kinda cool. The man then went on to give a speech about how this was the navy's finest fleets and how Solohamna was his home. Straight after that, they were ordered to step up and take a paper out of a large hat.

Claudio awaited his turn before walking up to the hat and drawing a paper out of it. He then walked back, just like ordered.

Alright alright alright

Not only did they have to wait long there was a speech which wasn't all to bad but it lead to waiting. Waiting a long long time. Long story short they had to grab a paper from a hat and this would decide what crew to join. Okay random it was. She looked at them amd was choosing who was ok and who not.

She was one of the last and walked up to a paper. Wondering where she would land. She just hoped for a decent captain. Opening the paper she stared to find the fitting captain. She hoped the captain be umderstanding of her powers. And she hooed to be asigned to an outside sqaud she waa not one for beimg indoors just that would make her quite sad.

He noticed quite a lot of people were impatient, some of the recruits just started to outright talk amongst themselves! Why, in his day that’d never have happened! He looked to his captains, and found that most of them were sleeping. “Shape up! Alright! It’s time to open your paper slips.  Those of your whom have not been given a name, come with me outside!” As people started to open up their slips, people would find different names spread out, while some word have casual people-names such as “Thompson” and “Alistair”, others would have simple markings. Claudio, Celes and a few others would have a lightning bolt on their slip. “My name is captain Alistair, and those of you with markings on your paper, follow the Commodore!” shouted the one with bandages all around his body.

 

People began to move to their respective captains, Celes and Claudio would be ushered outside with the tall old man. “Right! You people will be part of the special task squads- and no, it’s not as fancy as it seems.” Behind him would be a fair couple of boats. “Those with a lightning marking, go to that one.” He said, pointing to the far left. “Those of you with squiggly lines, the next.. “And he droned on and on before he ran out of boats. They were once again ushered, this time to their boats. Claudio and Celes would be on the same boat, along with a few others who looked toward the island. “Safe trip!” Said the Commodore once they were on board, placing his foot onto the transport and practically kicking the group toward the island of their destination.

 

It was… Pretty fast, though stable. The island they were headed to looked like some kind of jungle?

Claudio listened as the man barked an order, he then opened his slip to discover that it had a picture of lighting bolt on it. Claudio attempted to check the back of the paper to make sure that there was only the picture on it and he was correct, only the lightning. After listening to the man's next order, it looked like these slips were meant to show them what crew they'd be put in. Not very professional but Claudio wasn't arguing.

He moved to his location and chucked the slip away, he wouldn't be needing that garbage again. He was with a tall old man, Claudio wasn't interesting in him. Too.. well.. old for his liking. He saw as the man told them that'd they needed to board the ship on the far left.

More moving...

Claudio eventually got onboard the boat and was a little surprised once it suddenly took off at a fast speed.

"Could have warned us..." he muttered under his breath.

Alright, this was it. her captain had been chosen, well it really wasn't her captain but a commodore leading them to another captain? it was all so confusing and strange. mostly strange, and now they had to go outside, jump on top of a boat and then go to a new island, where'd they meet their captain.

it was such a task, and really Celes didn't like boats she prefered flying, but knew that she shouldn't cause comotion. or ask if she was allowed to fly. she just had to take this and survive the boat trip. And it wasn't all too bad, the island they were heading to was in sight. And it wasn't all to long

On the boat Celes looked around, to see who her comerades would be, some stood out more then others but she had o learn to know them before she could give her opinions. time would tell

It was a five-man boat, pretty standard; three rows of seats total, two somewhat in the middle and one at the front, which was empty. Next to Celes, a man sat, he was pretty tall at around six foot seven inches, had a moustache and beard. He was mostly bent on keeping himself steady on the boat.

He made a sound, “bbrrf!” before putting his head over the side and making retching sounds. He was probably being seasick. After doing his business, he wiped his mouth, glancing at the lady behind her. “…Sorry.” He would say, before gaining another bout.

Meanwhile, next to Claudio would be a girl with orange hair with a thin build. She would be staring at Claudio. She would curl her lip and ask, “I bet you think you’re prettier than me, DON’T YOU?” aggressively, then crossing her hands, puffing haughtily and looking the other way in dismissal.
 
 
They were approaching the island, the boat was starting to slow down, as far as anyone could see, it had a loooot of palm trees, and a setting that looked like a jungle with large hills that can’t quite make their marks as mountains. The boat would slow down just enough for them not to fly in the air when it inevitably and abruptly stops upon the bank.

"Excuse meeee..?" Claudio replied to the orange haired girl's statement.

What on earth was this person on about? Not even a hello or introduction, the nerve. Claudio just shook his head and sighed, it was people like these which made him prefer male over female... though he lived with his mother most of his life so he really didn't mind them but they could get waaay to annoying.

The boat came to a slow halt, they arrived. Claudio looked at the island ahead, quite a lot of palm trees. Was this some sort of jungle? He waited for further orders.

Ugh horrible, pretty horrible. the man next to her was not only big and taking most her space, but also sea sick, making strange noises and throwing up close to her. this was just perfect. really perfect.

while staring to the other side she wondered how long the trip would take, she was done with this already. a throwing up dude, a loud girl discussing how pretty she was with another extrovagant person, she had rather be with some more normal people but she had no choice, just gotta do a lot of work for more promotions

she wanted to work, but atleast in some good atmospheres she stared into yonder till she would arive.

The boat slowed to a halt. The box in the front of the boat was a little hard to walk across, but other than that the beach looked pretty standard. The trees blew in the wind, red eyes stared at the quartet in the darkness of the jungle, while the sun proudly shined upon the four of them.  Growls and ominous sounds came from the jungle, the small cliff loomed over them with what seemed to be large shapes sat upon the tallest of the trees. It looked great from a distance, but now that it was up close, and around ten meters away the biodiversity seemed to not favour the humans.
 
“Thank god.” The large man said, clambering off the transport. “Uh.. I never said my name, I’m Benedict.” He said, scratching the back of his head.
“My name’s Peach.” Said the orange-haired girl, throwing dirty looks at the other two (who she assumed to be) females.
“Well, what d-“
 
“PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR SURROUNDINGS!” someone shouted behind them.
 
Madeline burst out of the aforementioned box at the front of the ship. Bite severity: one! she aimed toward Benedict, jumping onto his back and biting his shoulder.
 
“GHHAAH! WHAT THE F-“ and just as quickly she jumped off, kicking him in the back. He fell face-first onto the sand, groaning.
 
“This is my home away from home! It even has a few creatures from it as well! This will be your training ground and if you don’t look where you’re going, you’ll end up worse than him!” She said, walking across Benedict and turning around to them, not giving them a chance to speak once more, she continued: “Kill or be killed! There’s only a couple of omnivores around here, the rest only eat meat! Do you know how to put up a tent? You’ll learn! Do you know how to improvise a weapon? You’ll learn! Are your reflexes good enough that you could survive in any deathtrap? On this island you WILL LEARN!” she practically shouted the last part. She looked like a bit of an odd individual, fishnet jacket with a tank top underneath, black tight trousers with a various array of belts for all kinds of ammunition. She had a sniper rifle slung around one arm and what looked to be a shotgun upon her lower back, with a combat knife. She had a mask which was pulled under her chin, which showed off her teeth. Normally people have various different kinds of teeth, this one had all canines.
 
“Oh, yeah. Hi, my name’s Madeline, I’m you’re captain. Any questions?” She asked. Benedict slowly got up, rubbing his shoulder.

Claudio hopped off the ship and onto the shore of the island which was filled with trees. So, it really was a jungle. He heard the two introduce themselves, Benedict and Peach. Benedict was not bad, not bad at aaaall. However Claudio felt Peach was gonna be a real pain in the rear.

He was startled as he heard someone yelling behind them, a few short moments later a person leaped onto Benedict's back and dug his/her teeth into the poor man's shoulder. Claudio quickly went for his pole and got ready to strike, this was crazy, a random person just bit into that man's shoulder as if it were cheese. He heard as the woman spoke, she looked a bit odd but Claudio wasn't complaining. He got his pole out in front of him, the only carnivore on this island was her so far! Just when he was about to attack, he heard the woman introduce herself as their captain.

"Wooow. You like flaaaashy entrances don't ya, captain?"

[Fin~]

Up on reaching the island a few of many events started, people started introducing themselves and most were loud, and had a big opinion of themself, Celes wasn't really impressed, they didn't sound like bad people, but were they going to defend the helpless or were they ones that needed defending also.

The captain agreed to it. she came in biting the big guy paying no atention to her at all, while celes had seen her lurking in the woods from the starts, his reflexes were bad as were his senses. The captain explained this teritory was like a training ground and they had to survive and make fire, build tents ETC. Celes prefered sleeping in trees, but she would join the company this time.

'' good to meet you captain, My name is Celes'' She stated offering the captain a hand, to show her formalities. not that she was one of many formalities, though she knew how to greet a superior.

She looked around, at her comrades, or more like coleaques. she didn't really have many opinions but decided to wait for ones to make a move. she was good for most tasks but didn't mind gathering wood and making fires. she would love this as she could gather some fruits for her diets '' I volunteer to gather wood, and make fire, if no one has something against that'' she asked. hoping she could do those things. she liked going her own way.

Benedict got up, rubbing his bitten shoulder then blinking, looking around. “H-hey! What’s that on me?” he asked, trying to turn around. On his back would be some kind of yellowish stain on his marine shirt. Peach went over and smelt it. “Eeew!” She said, holding her nose and taking a few steps backwards.
 
“If you think you’re going to get to choose your role then you are WRONG!” Madeline said, nodding at Claudio’s comment and shaking her head at Celes. She pointed at Benedict. “That… Is Cheshire Hyena piss. As soon as we enter the jungle they’ll be drawn to it like moths to a flame. Hopefully they’ll die as quickly as the bugs. But for now… Your first training exercise is to protect Benedict as he enters the middle of the island and washes his clothes. Oh, and to answer your obvious question…” She said, turning around and pointing toward the forest, shapes began to emerge.
 
They were panther-like in build, around up to an average person’s hips in height and had the faces of people. Not just people, but people who looked like they were either:
A, on the edge of death.
B, angry.
C, terror.
Most of the emotions could only be seen on the top half of their faces, because their mouthes were constantly grinning. Only about three came out, the rest were in the dark reaches of the jungle. You could tell because for some reason their eyes and mouths glowed in the dark.
 
“Group, meet Cheshire Hyenas. These are just children, I think. The adults wander in much larger packs… So don’t try to kill them, they still gotta breed.”
 
One of the creatures suddenly jumped ahead of the others, causing the sand to billow all around it, they were around ten meters away.

"Heh. I'll protect him with my liiiife~" Claudio said with a smirk as he shot a quick wink over at Benedict.

Though, what exactly did he need protection from? It seemed Madeline managed to somehow read his mind because she pointed over at the forest and some strange beasts began to emerge. Claudio was a little surprised at the appearance but tried not to show it. They had faces which resembled a humans one... that kinda freaked him out a bit.

According to the captain, these "things" were called Cheshire Hyenas.

"Such ugly things." Claudio muttered to himself.

[Fin~]

This was one strange day. not only was celes joining a weird marine crew, she was not allowed to go her own way and had to tag along with her crew while protecting someone who was attracted to some strange kind of animal, that had a scary and deadly name, and copyed faces, she was also being with a strange bunch of people and a captain who threw them in weird situatons. sure she could care for herself, but caring for herself and a weird bunch of missfits was a bit harder.

Slowly, wel fastly hyenas were enclosing. bearing strange faces and she could not kill them. she had to take them out without killing them, and had to bring this person safe through the jungle. as the monsters came closer there werent that many options, they were faster then most others here and Celes didn't want to fail before she even left the beach.

turning into her hybrid form she quickly grew sickles. probably taking loads of atention from her crew, as she slashed three airblades to the hyenas, they weren't strong enough to inflict big wounds. but they would push them back, and allow her to buy some time. '' I can act as a decoy for these little ones as the others head in. I';ll catch up later '' she said. hoping she could beat them. She worked alone and mostly always found a way to work alone.

Benedict’s face broke, a bit like Usopp in the latest chapter after seeing a certain something. “WHAAAT? Why me?!” he complained, shuffling a little in discomfort at Claudio, then both he and peaches looked in horror at the… horrors that started to come toward them.
“Aaagh! Killit!” Peach squealed, firing randomly at the hyenas, though missing.
 
“Nice shooting, who taught you, an armless guy?” Madeline taunted the girl, before looking behind herself again. They were coming closer, until she saw the wind blur. The hyenas gained light cuts upon them. “Now THAT’s be-” she turned around only to look at some large ferret or something.
 
“GEEEEEH?!” the other two shouted at Celes, Peaces went to hug Benedict in shock, while Benedict went to hug Claudio in shock.
 
“Uh.. I wouldn’t..” Madeline was a bit confused, though Peaches managed to hug Benedict as a form of protection or something, she just put some piss on herself, now the hyenas would be after her. And if Benedict hugged Claudio, then he’d be piss as well. Gah, oh well. It’d teach them to learn. Just before she was about to ask the obvious question to Celes, she said something else.
 
“Hoi! The whole point of this exercise is teamwork, not that most of you will actually stay in this team, so far those two have been gibbering wrecks.” She said, pointing at B/P.
 
Meeeanwhile~
 
The Cheshire Hyenas were confused, they thought they were fighting two-legs, but suddenly a floaty-leg one came from one of them. They growled, one of them’s face started to make a cracking sound, as it started to imitate Celes’ hybrid form’s face. In fact, the other two did it as well, turning into Benedict and Peach. A low growl gurgled from their necks as they started to take some steps back, then flash-stepped a couple of meters away.
 
The growls began louder and louder. Madeline put her hands on her ears, signalling the others should do the same. The noise gave way to some hideous, screeching laughter, they were quite far away but it still hurt to listen to it without covering the ears. They screamed to the sun, and more cries from the jungle were heard. “Aaaand... Let’s go that way.” Madeline said, pointing to the right of the island and started to walk off. She unbuckled her shotgun.

Claudio was surprised to see Benedict running to hug him, Claudio was normally the one who cased after the men but he wasn't complaining. He allowed Benedict to hug him.

"Don't woooooory! I'll protect you!"

Claudio then noticed some sort of ferret/human/sickle thing. Where on earth did that come from? It seemed that it was able to talk to! It's voice sounded familiar... hm... he just couldn't put his finger on it. If the ferret was on their side then there was no problem at all. Claudio shifted his gaze towards Madeline as she signaled for them to cover their ears. Claudio wondered why on earth they needed to but did it anyways since he wasn't the type to disobey.

Moments later, he watched as Madeline removed her hands from her ears and he did the same before following her to the right of the island. So many things happened such a short period of time.

This was so insane, everyone was insane, and she had to protect them, she wanted to stay behind to be atleast safe, but she wasn't allowed. as the chesire hyenas stood their confused, Celes turned back into her original form and landed on the ground. she was so done with this.

The hyenas were copying her form and some of the others, this was strange but they looked different, she didn't really care about it. as the hyena had turned into the form she didn't have anymore.

The others decided to run around and moved somewhere '' atleast get your weapons out, be ready for battle, lets make some torches to fear them off, most animals dislike fire, lets do the basics and find where we have to go before we walk into yonder'' Celes said as she wondered how the others would react, they were basicly just running straight into the forest unprepared. This wasn't going to be a fun day. would it?

They were running toward ‘that’ kind of creature’s territory. It was there that she wanted to give her briefing, it was probably one of the only places safe from the Cheshire Hyenas, but also the one that she dreaded to visit. Absolutely no one, not even the commodore liked the creatures that lured within that part of the jungle, but as long as they didn’t provoke them, they should be alright. They WERE herbivores, or were they omnivores? Damn! Her knowledge of her old home was slipping.
 
“First we’ve got to know the territory!” she said, the Cheshire Hyenas started to slow to a walk after trying to catch up to them, it seemed they were apprehensive of the area they were going to. She started to take out a map. The Hyenas eventually started to walk away, growling. They had lost their prey, the pack wasn’t large enough but they knew their scent. As soon as the group left the territory they were going into, they’d be on them.
 
Benedict and Peach were looking thoroughly frightened as they ran away from the animals, letting go of each other they ran toward the nearest tree. Soon the group got there, and it was silent. Too silent, in fact for a deathtrap like this island. “Right! I have a map, you’re going to plan your strategies for getting numbnuts and the rest of you to the lake.” she jabbed a thumb at Benedict, he made a “hoi!” sound.
 
She unrolled a piece of paper and sat down onto the ground, motioning the others to do the same. The portrayal of the island by the map had a trapezium-like shape, there was a small marking for the beach in which they entered through. “We are here, now.” the pointed to the line which read: “CATOPLEPAS” “These ones don’t really attack humans, but will if provoked. Don’t drink any of the water here, also. They release pheromones or some shit that make you afraid of everything. They’ve also infected the water here, fun fun fun. The northern part of here has Skulluks, think big fat humans who are at least seven feet tall with no arms. Meanwhile, at the south you’ve already met our little pursuers. The lake we have to get to is just south east of here, we either go the long route or the short route. The long one has the Skulluks, which can be outwitted. Or we can go through the Cheshire Hyenas, which already know our smell, but it’s shorter.” She explained. Benedict and Peach looked at eachother. “NORTH!” they both said. After all, how bad can human-looking things be?

Benedict and Peach followed Cele's advice, using their swords to cut pieces off trees and looking at them, wondering what to do.

Claudio sat down beside the captain and watched as she pointed at the map and explained what was in each place, according to the map, this island had a weird trapezium like shape, the map also showed that they were in an area named "Catoplepas". Interesting, had a nice ring to it.

He continued to listen attentively to the captain and once she was finished, began to ponder to himself. Long route or short route. Long was easier, short was a bit more troublesome.

"I doooon't mind which rooooute we take. If they aaaaall lead to the saaame destination theeeen there is nooo problem. Though I suggest weee take the rooooute which is less time consuming~"

Those two idiots had already chosen, and when Celes meant slashing she meant making their way through chopping not like they did, it was like they randomly cut around Not carving out paths. She sighed and heard that someone indecisive was kind of loud, it was funny how much energy he had and talked everything through like he needed 6 seconds extra per word but still wanted to take the fastest road.

'' I don't want to act like a leader, because we have a captain, but if you cover my back i can help cut out a way into the forest'' Celes said as she grew sickles of 60 cm on her hands and started slashing the wood, quickly getting rid of that in their way, she wasn't the fastest but she atleast helped getting some plants done.

she followed the two ahead of her right into the forest, and looked back '' make sure to stay close, we shouldn't get lost, and we should be silent, if there are that tall creatures here we shouldn't let us be heared'' she whispered, hoping not everyone had went their own way.

Listening to that guy; Claudio, she thought his name was. Madeline realised something, he was aggravatingly slow to talk, and she didn’t like that. “Talking like that is a sure way to get a boot up your arse, recruit.” She turned to Benedict and Peach, almost suppressing a facepalm. “Bloody hell.” she muttered. Looking toward the fourth member of their little group, the woman had turned into some weasel-looking thing, as she began to cut her way through the forest.

“[color=lightgreen[Hoi![/color]” She blurted out, “Nice trail yer’ making, I’m sure it’ll anything else that walks through here as well.” she sighed, alright. Guess it was time for her to come forward. After all, she was supposed to be their captain, and she would lead them to their goal, however they were supposed to do it themselves so she could gauge it, though she already had a- Benedict and Peach looked dumbly at the tree and then the ferret-thing, they started to walk after it without Madeline noticing.

As Celes slashed her merry way through the forest, a few meters away something looked up. It was… A disturbing thing, to say the least. It had a kind of warthog-human-thing face, it had a very long neck (at this point, you couldn’t even see the body) and looked toward the intruder. Its head tilted to the right, then to the lleft, before it opened its mouth and howled; shaking its head around and some kind of blackish-aura came over it. Should Celes get too close, she would smell a rotten strength. It’s pheromones would waft toward the intruder and instil within her fear-not just of the creature itself, but just a piercing despair in general.

It wouldn’t just happen to Celes, anyone who’d come to close to the creature would get this feeling. Just like introducing the Cheshire Hyenas, Madeline just pointed at it and said: “Catoblepas.” then she added “…That means it’s time to run!” She attempted to grab Claudio’s collar and push him toward the right of the creature, as in.. Get-away-from-that-thing push. The creature would rear its head, and move toward the left, attempting to move closer toward the trio nearest to it. (And thus close the distance and make them more likely to fear it)
