The feeling of his microscopically thin ectoderm tearing and pouring out blood was very uncomfortable and quite painful too. The blood began to soak through the bandages and the pained areas were throbbing quite violently now. No matter, Tullus had to get this job done and done fast. Unfortunately, the preying mantis was still after him and wasn't about to let up for even a second, it seemed. Barely any options left to take care of this monstrosity, so the last feasible option was to eliminate Cortez? Did he already think of that? Yes, probably. One huge jump away from the broadswords that insect calls forelegs and closer towards his target later, he got up and began to quickly unload his revolver and shove in some new rounds for him to fire in.

One, two, three, four, five, six.

Six rounds, ready to shock and rock. It looked like Cortez was mildly distracted with the injured lady over there, who seemed to be doing unusually well for someone who looked utterly incapable of fighting. No matter, Cortez wasn't paying much attention to the bandages man himself and the latter identified a weapon on the ground. A rock. Wasn't too large, but it wasn't too small, about the size of a brick. and, when the stranger lifted it up, it was about the weight of a brick too. Idea time. Tullus sheathed his revolver and carried the rocky chunk with both of his hands. If those bullets didn't do much, this definitely will. Armor's good for blocking sharp stuff, but that's why blunt weapons were invented. He dashed towards the dazed criminal and used as much strength as he could to try and bash the asshole's face in with the rock.

Mishi was like a cornered rabbit, or was it a squirrel? Her adrenaline was pumping and she attacked through instinct, unfortunately her legs were also bleeding out. Pain wracked her lower body. Her flintlock was broken into two. On the bright side, she managed to kick him in the crotch, at least THAT managed to hurt him a little, but he drew his arm back again and sent another blade significantly slower toward her.

She shuffled toward the right, she couldn’t move her foot but at least her lower body could, she felt something cut her right shoulder and her eyes widened, she wasn’t fast enough, she was in pain and she was losing blood. She let out a whimper as she tried to grip onto his arm so he couldn’t do…Much, though she was significantly weaker than her, what she didn’t want him to do was remove his blade from her wound and cause it to leak even more blood. She hoped her logic was correct, as said, she wrapped her arm around his, while trying to kick him multiple times in the crotch while out of sheer spite and agony.

Looking towards Mishi with ferociousness in his eyes, Cortez watched his blade hit the ground and noticed her trying to grab his own arm. Stepping back and casting her aside and away from his arm, Cortez spat towards her.

He hadn't even seen Tullus coming and when the sudden appearance of the rock smashed him in the face, Cortez felt his right side throb. The ants all now crushed over the right side of his face and blood which soon begun to ooze from around his eye. A cut over his eyebrow and close just beneath it too. Stumbling back a little, he rested his back against the wall and looked towards Tullus & Mishi with anger.

Directing the prey mantis to attack Tullus from behind it came charging towards Tullus swinging its blades left, right & centre trying to hack him to pieces. As for the ants Cortez directed his arm towards Mishi.

The ants all launched towards Mishi hoping to bite her and bring about her death.

In Cortez's chest a large hole opened up. From the hole came out a swarm of black. Whatever these insects were they were horrifying. Grass hopper legs, hornet wings & tails, stag beetle horns & shells and last but not least bullet ant pincers. The swarm shot towards Tullus quickly. The large black blob shot towards him in an attempt to cover him and drag him into submission.

Reaching to his face Cortez attempted to wipe away the blood.

"You'll regret the day you brought a fight to Balthazar Cortez!" he shouted at the top of his lungs.

He's downed, now was his chance to strike! Two quick bullets to the head should suffice. The stranger thought. However, just as he was about to pass leather, a large hole appeared before Tullus and out came some kind of swarm of insects! Whatever it was, it caused him to recoil and fall backwards in fear and surprise at this sudden cloud. He didn't even notice the mantis attempting to chop him in two nary ten seconds earlier.

The bandaged man was flailing around, hastily trying to brush off these makeshift insects off his body to make sure it doesn't get under his bandages, but soon realized their bodies were far too big to fit through even the tiny openings around his eyes. His fear shrunk a bit, but there was always the possibility they could rip off the bandages and start eating away at his already hypersensitive flesh, especially near his legs and back which were soaked with his blood.

Of course, Tullus now had a renewed desire to finish this right now, before he either gets chopped in two or eaten alive by whatever the hell these things were. Finally, the stranger had passed leather and and aimed it at Cortez. Insects were crawling all over him, and he could feel every appendage of all of these chimera-like creatures touching his bandages. Quickly brushing off the ones covering his face, he took aim and fired three consecutive shots.

Ugh… He got away. Mishi flopped back to the ground, exhausted and in pain. She eeded to get medical treatment otherwise… She took a look at her legs, and gulped. They looked pretty torn up, and she hoped nothing important was hit, though due to the fact she was still alive, they weren’t immediately lethal. She turned to the side, wincing in pain, and the expression: “eyes wide as saucers” quite applied to her at this point. Ants. Dozens-no… Hundreds of them, were they Cortez’s guardians too? “N-no way..” She gulped, she rummaged into her pockets, trying to find something –anything- that could stop them, or at least slow them down, but still… Her foot was stuck, what COULD she do?

Suddenly, an idea came to her, she threw the marine vest that she still had toward the ants, then rummaged into her back, attempting to take some gunpowder and shot out. She hoped to the heavens that this would work, no.. She just needed the gunpowder, and her cut-in-half flintlock. She quickly stuffed the gunpowder into the sawn-flintlock, pushed it upon the marine vest and set it alight, hoping to both burn and ward off the ants. If this didn’t work she was so, so very dead.

Watching as the insects manufactured within his body rushed to greet Tullus, Cortez was pleased with the insects and felt they would be more than enough to finish Tullus. Turning to Mishi he watched to see the sudden spurt of flames bursting out of no where. His beautiful creatures screaming in pain dying before him. Filling with rage at the sheer sight he unsheathed his sword and raised it up high above his head ready to cleave through the vile poisonous woman who hated mother nature with a passion.

"You're gonna pay for that you poisonous bitch!" Cortez howled from his lungs looking over a ravaged beard and through torn up eyes.

BANG!

Pausing in place Cortez's hands felt limp over his blade and seconds later the blade came crashing down with nothing more than gravity dragging it to the ground. His eyes flared open wide and blood began to trickle down from his neck over his tank top and chest.

Spilling forth Cortez dropped to his knees and seconds later to the ground fully bleeding out. A small puddle forming around him. Looking in Tullus's direction Cortez inhaled deeply.

Three shots, three solid hits. That was definitely what Tullus wanted to see! Now this rotten bastard was on the ground in a pool of his own blood! Only thing left to make this a cliché scene was to have Cortez start begging for mercy or something like that. Maybe he'll say something along the lines of, "You haven't won just yet!" And then the bandaged man plants a few more bullets into his head just to shut him up. Yeah, that'd be some really cool ass shit right there. But nope, the villain just lied there and made a deep breath in. Must've punctured his lungs, blood flowing into it now. Probably'll die of suffocation in ten minutes or more. He could also feel the insects weaken and feel sluggish as opposed to before he shot the bearded crime lord.

With that thought planted in his mind, Tullus strolled up to Cortez, both of them have their backsides soaked in blood. One gun, one winner. Not sparing a single second thought, the stranger popped his last three shots into the dying pirate; One in his head, two in his heart. Hopefully, it'll all be over by then and these insects will finally disappear.

Mishi groaned as she looked toward Cortez, he didn’t like her gift for the ants. He was coming toward her, she was going to die. Mishi felt a knot of fear groew inside her that slowly elapsed as she found more and more of her blood leaving her legs. Tit wasn’t good, she needed to stop the flow, or maybe she had just lost too much for now, and her legs had already begun to do… Something to stop the bleeding, she wasn’t a medical expert. Oh yes… Cortez was being shot, wasn’t he?

Darkness shrouded around her, she couldn’t see it through, but she hoped beyond hope that it was the bandaged guy who won, because… …

Her legs were bloody and full of splinters, but they weren’t really all that bad, but if they stayed in then it could be trouble for her what with illness and all, she just passed out from the pain (and minor blood loss) due to not being used to it, as Tullus would obviously be able to sympathise with.

Captain Balthazar Cortez is now down for the count and no longer a plague that'll terrorize the islands of the North Blue. The blue will rejoice for its freedom and honour you for your aid in their time of need.
